An interior designer who has been based in London for the past 35 years, Francois has travelled throughout Morocco and owns houses in both Tangiers & Taroudant.
With his characteristic blend of artlessness and refreshing curiosity he has always been interested in Moroccan rugs – no matter how modest – with imagery reminiscent of modern art. Diamonds, stripes, squares, checks, zigzags, graffiti.
Francois started importing rugs from Morocco over 30 years ago to furnish both his and his clients’ homes. The demand for these works of art has increased over the last few years, as these beautiful vintage pieces perfectly complement and give character and personality to the modern interiors now predominant both in Europe and around the world.
Inspired by the success of the traditional rugs in his collection, Francois has now designed a range of contemporary Moroccan fabrics which complement these, particularly the Beni Ourain rugs, and also has a range of beautiful antique and contemporary one off pieces of fabric.
He now has a showroom in Chelsea, West London, with a vast collection of up to 300 rugs, ranging from the small and affordable, to large vintage pieces – collectors’ items dating back as far as the 1930s.
